HANOVER, N.H. — An impressive week of honors for Dartmouth football's Ejike Adele continued on Wednesday, as he was named a third team All-American by Stats Perform. The defensive lineman is two days removed from being named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year at the Asa S. Bushnell Cup Presentation at the iconic Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
Adele is one of four Ivy League student-athletes recognized. It also comes one day after teammates — juniors Delby Lemieux and Chris Corbo — were named honorable mention All-Americans by the Associated Press.
Adele is the fourth Ivy Defensive Player of the Year in program history and 10th player of the year of any kind and first Bushnell Cup winner since the Big Green won back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year honors in 2018 (Isiah Swann) and 2019 (Jack Traynor).
Also a first team All-Ivy League honoree, Adele led the Big Green in both sacks (6.0) and tackles-for-loss (12.0) while his 54 tackles were tied for second on the team. He had some huge games, including at Columbia while he finished with nine tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and two sacks. At Princeton, he had 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks. Adele finished the season third in the Ivy League in sacks (40th in the country), while leading the league in tackles-for-loss (which is currently good for 21st nationally).
