Freeman and Sung are this week’s stellar athletes
HANOVER, N.H. — The baseball team wrapped up a weekend sweep of Brown, with Kolton Freeman helping lead the way, while Katherine Sung of women's golf finished tied for second at the Navy Spring Invitational.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athlete – one male, one female – as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Kolton Freeman, 5th, Laguna Beach, Calif., Baseball
Kolton Freeman played in all four games for the Big Green this week, batting .250 and having an impact on offense in all four games. On the road against Boston College, Freeman scored the Big Green's only run. In game one of the series against Ivy League opponent Brown, Freeman went 1-for-3 with a home run in the Big Green's 5-3 victory. He collected two RBI, both on free bases, a walk and a hit by pitch, in Dartmouth's 6-2 victory in game two. In the series finale, Freeman recorded his 100th career hit, a leadoff single in the ninth inning that set the Big Green up for a 10-9 walk off victory.
Katherine Sung, Sr., Palo Alto, Calif., Women's Golf
Katherine Sung enjoyed a strong weekend at the Navy Spring Invitational, finishing tied for second overall at 6-over-150. Sung shot 4-over-76 in Saturday's first round before following that up at 2-over-74 on Sunday. Sung was the top Ivy League finisher this weekend, in an event that also featured Penn and Columbia, along with several other top Mid-Atlantic programs.
