Zalc Receives Ivy League, National Recognition After Stellar Performance

Zalc hit field goals of 31, 50 and 32 yards at Merrimack
HANOVER, N.H. — A hero from Saturday's 16-14 win at Merrimack, Owen Zalc was recognized with Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week honors on Monday. He was also among the honorable mentions for the Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week.
On Saturday, Zalc converted three field goals (on four attempts), with his only miss being a 50-yarder. He later hit a career-long 50-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter to pull the Big Green within one and set up his game-winning 32-yard kick with three seconds remaining.
Zalc also hit a 31-yard field goal late in the first half to give Dartmouth a 10-7 advantage. His three makes tied a career high.
Monday marks Zalc's fifth Ivy League weekly award. Last season, he was named the league's rookie of the week three times and special teams player of the week once. The Big Green are now 2-for-2 in winning this season's special teams weekly awards, after Jordan Washington received the honor last week due to his field goal block and ensuing 60-yard return for a touchdown vs. Fordham.
The Big Green return home on Saturday for its Ivy League opener, hosting Penn as part of the Buddy Teevens Stadium Dedication weekend. Opening kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
