Baldvinsson and Goebel Named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week

HANOVER, N.H.—Eidur Baldvinsson of Dartmouth men's soccer and Ola Goebel have been named The Richards Group Athletes of the Week following outstanding performances on the pitch.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.

Eidur Baldvinsson, So., Garðabær, Iceland, Men's Soccer

Eidur Baldvinsson scored the Big Green's game winning goal in the 57th minute Saturday against Columbia, helping Dartmouth to its first Ivy League win of the season. The Big Green played down a man shortly after Baldvinsson's goal, to defeat the Lions, 2-1. Baldvinsson now leads the team with four goals and has scored the game winner in both of Dartmouth's wins this season.

Ola Goebel, Junior, Evanston, Ill., Women's Soccer

Ola Goebel shone in Dartmouth's scoreless tie over Brown on Saturday, recording a career high of seven saves against the top offensive team in the Ivy League. Goebel's dominant presence in goal helped Dartmouth get its league-high eighth shutout of the season and her fifth clean sheet of the season.
