Grimm and Maddox Earn Ivy League Weekly Awards

HANOVER, N.H. — Following Friday night's dominant 49-3 win over Columbia, two members of the Dartmouth football team have received Ivy League weekly awards, with Tyson Grimm earning Defensive Player of the Week and No'Koi Maddox garnering Special Teams Player of the Week.

Grimm set the tone with a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown on the first drive of the game. Seventy five yards marked the Big Green's longest interception return for a touchdown since David Caldwell returned one 77 yards on Sept. 26, 2015 against Sacred Heart. Grimm added five tackles. As a team, Dartmouth didn't allow a Columbia point for the game's first 54:47, holding the Lions to their fewest points since the 2023 season opener (Sept. 16, 2023 at Lafayette). The Big Green held the Lions to their fewest points in an Ivy League game since Nov. 14, 2015 at Cornell.

Meanwhile, Maddox had two huge special teams plays in the victory. The first came with 2:56 left in the first quarter as he blocked a bunt then recovered it and finished off the 19-yard blocked punt TD to give the Big Green a 21-0 lead. It marked Maddox's first-career touchdown and the third time in the last four meetings with Columbia that the Big Green have blocked a punt for a touchdown. Late in the second quarter, Maddox recovered a muffed punt at the Columbia 14-yard line. Two plays later, the Big Green were in the end zone for a 28-0 lead. Defensively, Maddox added three tackles. This marks Dartmouth's third straight Special Teams Player of the Week honor, after Owen Zalc was recognized the previous two weeks.
