The Big Green now have four interceptions over the last two games
HANOVER, N.H. — Patrick Campbell and Harrison Keith picked off Princeton quarterback Kai Colón on each of the first two drives, leading to Big Green touchdowns, as the Dartmouth football team wouldn't look back in a 20-17 win on Saturday afternoon at Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field. Saturday's game was presented by Skinletics. The Tigers ended with a 408-289 edge in total offense, but Dartmouth led 20-3 into the fourth quarter before Princeton scored two touchdowns to pull within three at the final horn.
With the win, Dartmouth improves to 6-2 and 3-2 in the Ivy league, with the Tigers falling to 3-5 and 2-3.
"Just super glad, excited that we got that win," said Sammy McCorkle, Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach. "We didn't make it easy for ourselves at times, but I'll tell you what, the guys did a great job of plugging away… kept battling. We made plays when we needed to make plays. The guys came out, especially from the very get go, came out ready to play, and came out with good energy. We definitely were in more of an attack mode, and jumped out there and did what we needed to."
The defense impressed for the Big Green with three sacks, those two interceptions, five pass breakups and 13 quarterback hurries. Thaddeus Gianaris tallied a career-high 11 tackles, along with a sack and two QB hurries. Keith tied a career-high seven tackles for a second straight week, while adding a career-high three pass breakups to go with his highlight-reel one-handed interception. Patrick Campbell had the other pick, on Princeton's first drive of the day.
On just the fourth play from scrimmage of the afternoon, Campbell came up big with the interception, running it back to the Princeton 35-yard line. It took the Big Green five plays to punch it in, featuring four rushes and a 21-yard connection from Saunier to Taysire Williams for his first-career reception. Two plays later, Saunier ran it in from one yard out to give Dartmouth a 7-0 lead.
On the ensuing drive, Dartmouth went 88 yards on 15 plays, taking 7:54 off the clock. The Big Green converted three first-downs, including a 26-yard connection to Corbo as he tip-toed the sidelines to end the first quarter. In the first play of the second, Crowther finished off the three-yard touchdown run to give Dartmouth a 14-0 lead with 14:56 on the clock.
It didn't take long for the Big Green to tack on insurance, as they went 75 yards on seven plays to open the second half. It began with a 36-yard rush from Crowther to set the tone, and ended with Saunier finding Corbo from 25 yards out. Dartmouth led 20-0 with 11:01 on the third-quarter clock.
Dartmouth struggled to get much momentum offensively the rest of the half, with the Tigers scoring twice in the fourth. But an onside kick attempt was corralled by Corbo with 33 seconds remaining, and three kneel downs secured the Dartmouth victory.
The Tigers finished with a 408-289 edge in total yards, including 266-152 through the air and 142-137 edge on the ground.
"We had opportunities on defense to try to get them off the field and we didn't do that, so it kept drives alive," said McCorkle. "But I thought our defense did a good job when they were backed up, bend but don't break, they bowed up, and it was all about the points. I think sometimes people get caught up on stats, stats, stats. The most important stat is the one at the very top of this paper and that's the final score. Our guys, and our staff did a great job of making sure we did that at the very end. And that's what I'm pleased with."

"Obviously, last week didn't go the way we wanted to, but I guarantee you, every single guy on this this team cherishes every moment we get on that field. That's the mindset we had going into this week and for the rest of the season. Who knows how much time we have left together; we're going out there and giving everything we have because this is a group of guys who truly loves each other."

Each of the last three victories have come by single digits … Saunier's 80% completion percentage marked the second straight home games he's been 80% or better. He's been over 70% in four of the eight games so far … Dartmouth's starting safeties have combined for eight of the team's 10 interceptions on the season, with both Williams and Keith tallying four … Saunier (10) and Crowther (8) have combined for 18 of Dartmouth's 19 rushing scores on the season, with Desmin Jackson recording the other.

Offensively, D.J. Crowther narrowly missed his third 100-yard rushing game of the season, finishing with 96 on 20 carries and his eighth touchdown of the season. Grayson Saunier was 12-of-15 passing for 152 yards, a passing touchdown and a rushing score (his 10th rushing score of the year).
