HANOVER, N.H. — With the calendar turning to 2026, the Dartmouth men's lacrosse program is celebrating a historic milestone: 100 years. The storied program began in 1926, with the Big Green winning exactly 500 games, including three Ivy League Championships.
In the first season in 1926, Dartmouth played just four games, going 1-3. The Big Green went 3-3 the following year, then had their first winning season at 4-3 in 1928.
Dartmouth reached double-figure wins for the first time in 1947, finishing 10-3 — the start of three straight double-figure win seasons. More recently, the Big Green won 10 games in 1994 and 11 in 2003 as part of Dartmouth's third Ivy League Championship. The other two titles came in 1964 and 1965 when the Big Green went 8-3 and 7-5 overall, respectively.
Dartmouth is on the rise under head coach
Sean Kirwan, finishing 8-5 a season ago with two Ivy League victories.
"What an amazing milestone for the Dartmouth Lacrosse Program," said head coach
Sean Kirwan. "As we celebrate 100 years, we look to honor the legends who came before us and set the standard for the next generation."
The Big Green will have a 100-year celebration the weekend of the Cornell game, which is set for Saturday, Apr. 18.
