HANOVER, N.H. — Sammy McCorkle, the Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach, announced on Tuesday the addition of Kevin Bracken to staff as secondary coach. Bracken comes to the Big Green from Endicott College where he served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.
Â
"My family and I are very grateful for the opportunity of joining the Dartmouth Football Program and community," said Bracken. "I am excited to not only work at one of the best academic institutions in the world, but also with some of the best student-athletes across the planet. I would like to thank Coach Dobes, Coach McCorkle and [Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation] Mike Harrity for this opportunity. I look forward to being a part of the journey in pursuit of future Ivy League Championships."
Â
At Endicott, Bracken helped lead a defense that was among the national leaders in a number of categories: scoring defense (third), defensive pass efficiency (fourth), passing yards (fourth), red zone defense (seventh) and total defense yards per play (11th).
Â
The Gulls also finished first in rushing defense. After the season, four members of the defense were named to All-Region teams, one member was a D2/D3 Writers Selection, one member was named the CNE Defensive Player of the Year and nine were All-Conference selections. Bracken was named the 2024 Hansen Ratings All-Region I Defensive Coordinator of the Year.
Â
"We're excited about welcoming Kevin Bracken and his family to Dartmouth football," said McCorkle. "He's knowledgeable, brings energy that connects well with our staff and players, as well as a tireless recruiter that will be a great addition to our defense."Â
Â
Prior to Endicott, Bracken was defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at John Carroll University. During the 2023 season, John Carroll posted an 8-2 overall record with Bracken's defensive unit among the national leaders in a number of categories (among 238 Division III programs): fourth down conversation defense (fourth), scoring defense (53rd), total defense (58th), first down defense (62nd) and rushing defense (67th).
Â
Before John Carroll, Bracken spent four years at Bucknell out of the FCS. Over his time with the Bison, he served as defensive line coach, linebackers coach and run game coordinator. He also has experience at Villanova (assistant linebackers coach and defensive quality control), along with Franklin & Marshall (defensive line coach).
Â
As a player, Bracken was a three-year starting linebacker at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was a senior captain and honorable mention All-Conference honoree with the Greyhounds. Upon graduating, he played professionally for the Central Penn Capitals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He also stuck around Moravian as an intern in the area of strength and conditioning from January to May of 2015.
Â
In 2024, the Big Green wrapped up their fourth Ivy League Championship in the last five seasons, finishing 8-2 and 5-2 in the Ivy League while capturing their Ivy-record 22nd all-time title.
