NEW BRITAIN, CONN. -The Dartmouth women's soccer team picked up its first road win of the season on Sunday afternoon against Central Connecticut State University, besting the Blue Devils 2-0.Â
With the win, the Big Green is now 4-0 in all-time series against CCSU, dating back to their first face-off in 2000. Additionally, Dartmouth brought its season record to 2-0.Â
In her second collegiate start, first-year goalkeeper Paige Knoth collected her second career clean sheet, the other being Dartmouth's 7-0 victory over Merrimack on Friday. The Big Green outshot the Blue Devils 17-1.
With the game being scoreless after 32 minutes of play, first-year midfielder Nadia Young rushed up the pitch and fired a shot towards the right of the net. CCSU goalkeeper Melinda Ford attempted to make a save, but the ball deflected off a defender's cleat into the net, giving Dartmouth the 1-0 lead.Â
First-year forward Maeve Theobald continued her dominance on the field in the second half, scoring her third goal of the season in the 65th minute. Theobald currently leads the Ivy League in goals with three.
Dartmouth maintained control as the clock ran down, allowing the Blue Devils to attempt their only shot of the game in the 86th minute but securing a 2-0 victory.
The Big Green will return to Burnham Field next Thursday, Aug. 28, to host UMass at 7 p.m.
