Charpentier, Foley, Krause, MacDonald Named Assistants
HANOVER, N.H.-- Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey, Reid Cashman announced the leadership group for the upcoming 2025-26 Dartmouth men's hockey season on Friday. Senior Tucker McRae will serve as captain while Eric Charpentier, CJ Foley, Alex Krause, and Cam MacDonald will be assistant captains.
McRae enters his senior season for the Big Green and has skated in 82 games on the blueline for the Big Green. The Calgary, Alta. native has tallied 12 points in his career while blocking 105 shots. In 2023-24 he set career highs in goals, assists, points, and blocked shots. McRae is a staple on the Dartmouth penalty kill, last season he averaged 1:43 of ice time on Dartmouth penalty kills. The former Okotoks Oiler also served as captain in his final season of juniors in Okotoks. McRae is the first Big Green captain from Alberta since Nick Johnson '08 served as captain in 2007-08.
Charpentier appeared in all 33 games as a sophomore in 2024-25 as he tallied 11 points for the second straight season from the blueline while averaging just over 22 minutes a night. Through 65 career games, the towering defensemen has seven goals and 15 assists. The Silver Spring, Md. has blocked 92 shots in his career. In the ECAC Hockey Opening Round against St. Lawerence, he tallied a career high three points with a goal and two assists. He closed out his sophomore season with a +14 rating while winning 60% of battles per Hudl Instat.
Foley was recently named to the Preseason All-ECAC team following a breakout season for the Big Green as a sophomore in 2024-25. He tallied 11 goals and 19 assists last season to be tied for the most on the team with 30 points. Following the season, he was named Ivy League Player of the Year, All-ECAC First Team, All-Ivy First Team, he was also an ECAC Hockey Player of the Year Finalist. The Hanover, Mass. native has skated in 65 career games with 16 goals and 34 assists.
Krause was a key role player for the Big Green last season as he skated in a career high 31 games while also setting career highs in goals, assists, +/-, and blocked shots. He scored four goals as a junior in 2024-25 along with eight assists. He played key minutes on the Dartmouth penalty kill as he averaged 45 seconds penalty kill time per game. The Calabasas, Calif. native had three multi point games last season. He finished the season fourth on the team with a +13 rating.
MacDonald also broke out in his junior season as he set multiple career highs. He skated in a career high 33 games while setting new career highs with six goals, 10 assists, and 16 points. The Surrey, B.C. native blocked 13 shots while being a key component of the Dartmouth penalty kill, he averaged 1:38 of shorthanded ice time last season. In 94 career games, he has scored 11 goals and added 26 assists. He tallied four two points games last season including back-to-back two-point games against New Hampshire and Alaska Anchorage.
"Our five captains have earned the respect of both their teammates and their coaching staff. Led by Tucker (McRae), these young men have led since stepping on campus" Cashman added. "They lead by example both at the rink and away from it. They take great pride in not only representing our team but also representing our school and community.  We look forward to watching them continue to grow in these roles."
The Big Green are coming off an Ivy League title and an 18-13-2 record in 2024-25. The ECAC announced its preseason poll this week, Dartmouth was tabbed for fourth in the poll. The Big Green open the 2025-26 season with a preseason scrimmage against DIII Norwich on Sunday, Oct. 26 at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth kicks off the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Warrior Ice Arena in Boston against Stonehill. The Big Green host Yale the following day in a non-conference game.
