HANOVER, N.H.—Kileigh Van Ness of Dartmouth equestrian and Emmett Croteau of men's hockey have been named The Richard's Group Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.
Kileigh Van Ness, Sophomore, Ringwood, N.J., Equestrian
Van Ness was a top performer for the Big Green at the ECAC Championships in Charleston, she finished undefeated on the weekend with three wins and a tie. The sophomore had the best record on the team over the two meets. Against Sacred Heart in the semifinals she notched a 79-77 win in the first half on flat. In the ECAC Championship against Centenary she notched an 84-78.5 win on the flat. In the second half over fences she notched a commanding 82-67.5 win to close out the weekend. Following the meet she was named All-Tournament Team on both flat and fences.
Emmett Croteau, Junior, Bonnyville, Alta., Men's Hockey
Croteau was nearly perfect at the ECAC Hockey Championship weekend as he was named Most Outstanding Player as Dartmouth captured its first ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship. On Friday, in the ECAC Semifinals, Croteau recorded his second shutout of the season while making 31 saves. In the ECAC Championship he made 25 saves on 26 shots in over 71 minutes of action as the game went to overtime. In the postgame ceremony he was named to the All-Tournament team as well as MOP. This season he has a 1.88 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
