Burke and Herrman Named The Richards Group Athlete of the Week

HANOVER, N.H.—Mac Burke of Dartmouth baseball and Sydney Herrman of softball have been named The Richards Group Athletes of Week after outstanding performances on the diamond.

Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes – one male athlete or team, one female athlete or team– as Athletes of the Week.

Mac Burke, Sr., Woodbridge, Conn., Baseball

Mac Burke impressed on the mound for the Big Green this weekend, making two appearances out of the bullpen. In Dartmouth's first game against the Brown Bears, Burke tossed three scoreless innings out of the bullpen, giving up two hits to secure the 4-0 win and earn his team-leading fourth save of the season. In the series finale, Burke struck out the side in his one inning of work, again tossing another scoreless outing. His 2.37 ERA ranks second on the team while his .188 opposing batting average is the Big Green's best.

Sydney Herrman, First-year, Greenwood, Ind., Softball

Sydney Herrmann played a massive role in Dartmouth's thrilling 15-14 victory over Cornell on Sunday. The first-year infielder led the Big Green offense with four RBIs and two runs, while going 3-3. Herrmann opened scoring on Sunday with an RBI double, extended Dartmouth's lead with an RBI single, and capped off the afternoon by bringing in the game-winning run with an RBI single. She finished the week with a team-high .555 batting average and .667 slugging percentage.
