Dartmouth Swimming & Diving Training Trips
During the regular season, Dartmouth competes against teams throughout New England and the Northeast in addition to its Ivy League slate. Each December, however, Dartmouth swimmers and divers have the opportunity to combine training in a warm climate with travel to another part of the country and, sometimes, the world.
Due to the college’s unique “Dartmouth Plan,” in which the four academic terms roughly correspond to the four seasons, the Big Green swim teams have 10 to 14 days in December to concentrate solely on training. This period follows final exams for the fall term and provides an exciting break away from the books as well as incredible chance for team bonding and camaraderie.
Here are the locations of the swim teams’ training trips since 1998:

Dartmouth spent two weeks in 2008 in Hawaii, on the islands of Maui and Oahu. The first part of the trip was spent on Maui where the team trained and enjoyed time on its scenic beaches. For the second half of the trip, the Big Green trained at the University of Hawaii at Manoa on the island of Oahu. In addition to multiple training sessions, the Dartmouth swimmers and divers enjoyed touring the Dole Plantation and the Polynesian Cultural Center.
