Criteria
Dartmouth students and alumni1 who meet one or more of the following qualification criteria are normally eligible for induction into the Wearers of the Green five years after their Dartmouth class has graduated.2 Dartmouth coaches who meet one or more of the qualification criteria are normally eligible for induction when they are no longer coaching at Dartmouth. Qualifiers in varsity sports are normally inducted in even-numbered years, while qualifiers in club sports, other sports, and masters categories are normally inducted in odd-numbered years.
Qualification Criteria for Dartmouth Students and Alumni:1.  Dartmouth undergraduates and alumni1 who have been one of the following:
•  Member of a Summer or Winter Olympic team representing any nation in any sport
•  Member of a full national team representing any nation in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Member of a major league professional team4 in a sport offered at Dartmouth3
•  Member of a national hall of fame in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Individual national or international champion in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Individual national or international masters champion in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
2.  Varsity athletes who have achieved one of the following while at Dartmouth:
•  Named to an All-America team (First, Second, Third Team)5
•  Member of an NCAA or national championship6 team
•  Individual NCAA national champion
•  NCAA national statistical champion
•  Member of an IRA or EARC championship crew
•  Selected as Ivy League Player-of-the-Year or its equivalent7
•  Winner of the Kenneth Archibald Athletic Prize8 (Best senior athlete)
•  Winner of the Alfred Watson Trophy8 (Best male athlete, any class)
•  Winner of the Class of 1976 Trophy8 (Best female athlete, any class)
•  Named first team All-Ivy in three or more years in one sport9
•  Named first team All-Ivy in two sports9
3.  Club Sport athletes10 who have achieved one of the following while at Dartmouth, as recognized by the national governing body of the club sport:
•  Named to an All-America team (First, Second, Third Team)5
•  Member of a national championship6 team
•  Individual national champion6
4.  Dartmouth alumni who have been one of one of the following:
•  Head coach of a Summer or Winter Olympic team for any nation in any sport
•  Head coach of an NCAA or national championship6 varsity team
•  Head coach of a national team in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Head coach of a major league professional team in a sport offered at Dartmouth3Â
•  Selected to a national coaches hall of fame in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
Qualification Criteria for Dartmouth Coaches:
5.  Coaches who have achieved one of the following while at Dartmouth (coaches presently at Dartmouth are not yet eligible for induction):
•  Head coach of a Summer or Winter Olympic team for any nation in any sport
•  Head coach of an NCAA or national championship6 varsity team
•  Head coach of a full national team in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Selected to a national coaches hall of fame in a sport offered at Dartmouth3 or an Olympic sport
•  Head coach of four Ivy League championship varsity teams or the equivalent
•  NCAA coach-of-the-year
•  Head coach of a national championship6 club team10
Footnotes to Qualification Criteria:1.  Individuals who have withdrawn from the College in good standing are considered eligible. Individuals who have been separated or who have separated themselves from the College are ineligible.
2.  The requirement that qualified alumni become eligible for induction five years after their Dartmouth class has graduated may be waived when members of an NCAA or national championship team are being inducted, so that all members of the team may be inducted at the same time. In these instances, however, individuals should not normally be inducted until at least three years after their Dartmouth class has graduated.
3.  A sport offered at Dartmouth is defined as a varsity or officially recognized club sport.
4.  Regarding Major League Professionals: Individuals must have dressed for at least one regular season or playoff game in the highest-level professional league (e.g. NFL, MLB, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLS, MLL) in a sport offered at Dartmouth at the varsity or club level. Indoor versions of outdoor sports do not qualify.
5.  All-America Honorable Mention does not qualify.
6.  A national championship must be designated by the national collegiate governing body in that sport.
7.  Equivalents to Ivy League Player-of-the-Year include:
•  Baseball: Player and Pitcher of the Year
•  Cross Country: First place finisher at a Heptagonal championship;
•  Field Hockey: Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year;
•  Football: Bushnell Cup for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year;
•  Men's Golf: Medalist at an Ivy championship (or medalist at Eastern varsity championship prior to 1975);
•  Women's Golf: Medalist at an Ivy championship (or medalist at Eastern varsity championship prior to 1997);
•  Women's Lacrosse: Attacker, Midfielder, and Defender of the Year
•  Softball: Player and Pitcher of the Year
•  Soccer: Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year;
•  Swimming & Diving: Outstanding Swimmer or Diver at an Ivy or EISL championship;
•  Track & Field: Outstanding Performer of the Meet at an indoor or outdoor Heptagonal championship;
•  Women's Volleyball: Player and Defensive Player of the Year.
8.  Dartmouth Athletics annually awards the Archibald Prize for the best senior varsity athlete, the Watson Trophy for the best male varsity athlete (any class), and the Class of 1976 Trophy for the best female varsity athlete (any class). All three awards have additional non-athletic criteria.
9.  For Wearers qualification purposes: Indoor and outdoor track and field are considered the same sport while cross country is considered a different sport.
10. For consideration as Club Sport athletes or coaches, a sport must be an officially recognized Club Sport at Dartmouth.
