History
1984-2009
“Wearers of the Green” was created in 1984 by the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Boston to honor students, alumni, and coaches who met specific criteria for athletic excellence in their respective sports. More than 1,200 members were inducted at six dinners, which were held in Boston every five years.
In the early years, the officers of the Dartmouth Alumni Club of Boston played a significant role in organizing the event. With the passing of time, the club's role became more symbolic, with Dartmouth Athletics and the Alumni Relations Office organizing the event as a collaborative effort.
Program booklets were produced for each of the six dinners, covering the inductees, other distinguished participants, and any special themes for the events. The booklets may be accessed here:

New Era Begins 2014
Beginning in 2014, new Wearers of the Green are inducted annually during Homecoming weekend in Hanover. Ceremony programs may be accessed below.
