Throughout the summer, DartmouthSports.com will be focusing on members of the Class of 2020 who are currently in their "Sophomore Summers."
This installment features Henry Raymond of the men's cross country team. A three-season student-athlete, Raymond will look to get back on track this fall with the other Dartmouth men's distance runners when the cross country season kicks off in September.
DartmouthSports.com: What have you been doing during your sophomore summer?
Henry Raymond: I've been working at the Hop Box Office, running on trails around Hanover with a few other cross country guys and trying to learn how to survive without a meal plan.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
HR: My favorite place on campus is Pine Park. The trails are nice and our first race of the season goes straight through the park.
DS: What was it in the recruiting process that sold you on Dartmouth?
HR: The academics along with the rural location really sold me.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
HR: I would swap places with Quinn Cooney. He can grow a nice beard and the ladies love him.
DS: If you could play another sport at Dartmouth, what would it be and why?
HR: I would love to Nordic Ski. I used to skate ski quite a bit, and being outside on skis is really incomparable to spending an hour on the treadmill.
DS: Who would play you in the movie of your life?
HR: Michael Cera. His character in “Superbad” goes to Dartmouth, so I feel there is a good connection.
DS: What show do you binge watch?
HR: I've been binge watching "Silicon Valley" and "Westworld," both of which I started recently and am working extremely hard to finish before the fall.
DS: What is your useless/hidden talent?
HR: My hidden talent is juggling. But I refuse to believe it's useless.
DS: You step outside tomorrow morning and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million (after taxes). What would you do with the money?
HR: I would fix the sauna in the men's locker room, and that's about all I can think of.
DS: If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would you go and why?
HR: I would go to Russia to watch the World Cup Final.
