One of Dartmouth’s own has returned to campus to serve as an assistant football coach for the Big Green. Cato, who spent this past winter as an intern on the strength and conditioning staff before being hired for the football staff in March, will work with the tight ends.
Cato is a member of the Class of 2005 with a degree in government and was a defensive tackle for the Dartmouth football squad. A four-year letterwinner and three-year starter, Cato recorded 98 tackles, 14.5 going for a loss including three sacks, plus earned the team’s Manley Award as a senior.
After graduation, Cato played professionally in several leagues, among them the Arena Football League, Canadian Football League and the afl2 with the Manchester Wolves in New Hampshire. He also worked at his high school — Charlotte (N.C.) Country Day School — as a strength and coniditioning coach for the football and lacrosse teams, as well the special teams coordinator, defensive line and assistant offensive line coach for the football team over a four-year period.
