Quentin Jones was added to the football staff in March of 2026 and will work as the Big Green's newest defensive line coach.Â
Jones spent the last four seasons at Wesleyan, serving as the associate head coach, run game coordinator, defensive line coach, and a strength and conditioning coordinator. Jones helped the Cardinals to back-to-back NESCAC Championships and four straight Little 3 Championships, both achievements for the first time in program history.
Additionally, Jones' defense led the conference and nation. In four seasons under Jones, the Cardinals had three Defensive Player of the Year awards, an all-conference defensive line, and in 2024, a defense that ranked first in the nation in first down defense and sixth in third down defense. In his first season in Connecticut, the Cardinals led the NESCAC in sacks and ranked atop the nation and conference in multiple categories; second in the NESCAC in rushing defense and opponents first downs, and 23rd in NCAA first down defense, 27th in NCAA redzone defense, and 28th in NCAA rushing defense.
At the collegiate level, Jones also has coaching experience at Defiance College, Ohio Wesleyan, Brown, Western New Mexico, and Limestone College.
In addition to college athletics, Jones has taken his coaching experience professionally and abroad. He served as the head coach and general manager for the Dayton Firebirds of the National Gridiron League, now the United Football League and was the head coach of the Prague Lions in Czech Republic, coaching the Lions to a 7-2 record, a conference championship, and a top defense in turnovers and interceptions.
"Quentin's experience and knowledge of the defensive line position make him a natural fit for this position," Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach Sammy McCorkle said. "His ability to build relationships and energy made him stand out to us during the interview process and we're looking forward to having him as part of our football program."
