Conor McNally has been named the Director of Football Performance for the Dartmouth football program, as announced on Wednesday, Feb. 26. McNally comes to Hanover from Kansas where he has served as Assistant Sports Performance Coach and Director of Sports Science. McNally will lead a comprehensive training program designed to maximize the physical and athletic development for Big Green football student-athletes as the program vies for a fifth Ivy League Championship in the last six seasons.
"I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to become the Director of Football Performance at Dartmouth College," said McNally. "Thank you to Coach McCorkle, Dr. Austin Driggers, and the rest of the DP2 staff for believing in me to provide value for this program. My family and I are incredibly excited to get to Hanover and get to work as we embark on a new era in Ivy League football."
Most recently, at the Big 12's University of Kansas, McNally played a key role in the athletic development and performance readiness of all football student-athletes. He led the training programs for all incoming players while overseeing the Sports Science program, integrating advanced performance technology and systems such as GPS, force plates, velocity-based training, strength testing and heart rate monitoring.
"Conor McNally is an excellent addition to our staff," said Sammy McCorkle, Robert L. Blackman Head Football Coach. "His infectious energy, ability to connect with players and knowledge of human performance make him a great fit for our program. I look forward to him helping us take Dartmouth football to the next level."
Prior to Kansas, McNally was an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for football at the University of Buffalo. In addition to his work in the weight room, he led a data-driven athlete monitoring program to track and report player workloads for coaches and staff, while also supporting the team's nutrition program, fueling station and return-to-play process for injured athletes.
McNally began his career with Wofford College as assistant strength and conditioning coach before serving as strength and conditioning intern with the NFL's Buffalo Bills. With the Bills, he assisted in all facets of the offseason strength and conditioning program while aiding in capturing key data from strength testing, velocity-based training and GPS player tracking.
Additional experience of McNally's includes with Absolute Performance (Williamsville, N.Y.), Cressey Sports Performance (Hudson, Mass.) and Indianapolis Fitness and Sports Training (Indianapolis, Ind.).
"From a performance perspective, no sport has a more direct link between physical development, preparedness, and on-field success—along with translating the head coach's expectations and standards into the daily training environment," said Austin Driggers, Executive Associate Athletics Director for Peak Performance. "At every stage of this search, Conor instilled tremendous confidence in his ability to deliver on all of these at the highest possible level for our football team."
McNally graduated from Buffalo in May of 2013 with his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science while earning his master's two years later from Buffalo in Exercise Science.
