Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey
Reid Cashman announced the addition of Troy Thibodeau to his staff as an assistant coach in June 2021.
Â
Thibodeau spent the previous three seasons as a member of the coaching staff of the Tri-City Storm in the United States Hockey League (USHL). Prior to his move to Nebraska and behind the bench, the Danvers, Massachusetts, native served as the Director of Hockey Operations for UMass Lowell for two seasons with prior stops at Merrimack (video coach) and Wentworth (assistant).
In the last three seasons with the Storm, Thibodeau helped the team capture the Anderson Cup in 2019 as the league's regular-season champion. His coaching also improved the team's power-play numbers as their goal total with the man-advantage was at or near the top of the league leader board every year.
Â
At Lowell, Thibodeau was part of a staff that won the Hockey East title and earned a berth into the NCAA Tournament in 2017. In those two seasons (2016-17 and 2017-18), the River Hawks compiled a 44-30-3 record. As director of operations, he coordinated team travel, oversaw team compliance and camps, and analyzed team video.
Â
Video analysis was the major component of his responsibilities on staff at Merrimack where he was the video coach. While there, he analyzed and broke down gameplay footage and provided the Warriors' staff and players with advanced statistics and analytical data.
Â
Thibodeau's coaching career began in 2014-15 as an assistant with Division III Wentworth.
Â
Prior to making the move to coaching, he played three years of college hockey at the University of Southern Maine, serving as an alternate captain his junior season and graduating in 2014 with a degree in exercise science.
