Senior (2014-15): Captain … throughout her final year with the Big Green, Berghuis appeared in 26 games … tallied a pair of assists for two points … got her first helper of the season in the 5-2 loss to Northeastern (1/02) and added another in the 5-0 win over Brown (2/06) … was named the team’s Unsung Hero and received the Sarah Kennedy Award … finalist for the Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete Award.
Junior (2014-15): Alternate captain … as a junior, Berghuis appeared in all 30 games, scoring three goals and seven assists for 10 points … had a three-point performance in the 5-2 victory over RPI (11/01), tallying the game-winning goal and adding two assists … had a shorthanded goal in the 6-2 defeat of Vermont (12/14) … registered an assist in back-to-back games against Brown (1/02) and RPI (1/03).
Sophomore (2013-14): Berghuis had a breakout season during her second year with the team, tallying 10 points in 30 games … registered a career-high two assists in a 2-1 win at home against RPI (1/24) … had a point or better in five out of six games from Jan. 10 - Jan. 25 … all 10 of her points came in ECAC Hockey tilts … netted a power-play marker in a 4-2 loss to Cornell … found the back of the net against Princeton and Colgate.
Freshman (2012-13): In her first year on campus, Berghuis appeared in 30 of 31 games for the Big Green … registered all five of her points in conference play … scored one goal and picked up four assists … first collegiate goal came versus Princeton (1/12) in a 6-2 win at Thompson Arena … first career multi-point contest came against Yale on Feb. 12, where she picked up two assists in a 4-2 win … had points in back-to-back games on a road trip versus Union and Rensselaer (1/4-5), having a helper in each tilt.
Before Dartmouth: Played two years of varsity hockey for Appleby College … led her team to championships in the NAPHA, CISAA and OFSAA … winner of the Appleby College Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award … team MVP … twice represented Team Nova Scotia at the Atlantic Challenge Cup, taking home a pair of championships … member of Team Nova Scotia at the 2011 Canada Winter Games … two-time member of Team Atlantic at the Canadian U18 Nationals … three-year member of the soccer team at Appleby, played two years of basketball and was involved in multiple other sports, including volleyball, track & field and curling … played for the Mississauga Junior Chiefs … tallied three goals and nine assists in 28 games with the Chiefs.
Personal: Catherine Emily Berghuis is the daughter of Harold and Jennifer Berghuis … has two brothers … father played four years of soccer for the University of New Brunswick … enjoys guitar, volunteering and sailing.
