WADLAND'S PLAYER BIO PAGE
Dartmouth women’s lacrosse head coach Amy Patton announced In late August that Julie Wadland ’10 will be returning to Hanover for the 2016 season as the team’s volunteer assistant coach.
Wadland — a two-time captain of the Big Green during her playing days — will join Patton’s staff after serving as an assistant coach for the Monte Vista High School varsity team and a head coach with Bear Lax Lacrosse Club the last two seasons. She remained active in the game in those two capacities while serving as the Assistant Director of Admissions at UC Berkeley’s Hass School of Business since 2014.
“I am both excited and proud to have Julie Wadland joining our staff for the season as she brings great enthusiasm for the program, a passion for Dartmouth and Dartmouth Lacrosse, and as alum can offer a wealth of knowledge to the current student-athletes,” Patton said. “As a two-time captain she was well respected by the coaching staff and her peers as one of the hardest workers on the team with great integrity and pride for the program.
In addition to being a two-time captain, Wadland graduated from Dartmouth as one of the most decorated players in program history.
A 2009 and 2010 All-Ivy League First-Team Selection, the Andover, Massachusetts, native and Big Green goalkeeper was also a two-time Tewaaraton Award Nominee, two-time Defensive Team MVP and a 2010 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Third-Team All-American.
"I’m thrilled and grateful to return to Hanover, both as a member of the women's lacrosse staff and as a graduate student,” Wadland said. “Having the opportunity to contribute to a community that altered my moral development could not be more rewarding."
At the time of her graduation, Wadland’s 450 career saves and 33 victories both ranked third all-time in program history (both are currently fourth), while her 9.63 goals against average was the 10th-best by a Dartmouth goalkeeper (now 11th).
Wadland joins her former coach from her playing days, Patton, on the sideline as well as assistants Nicole Moore and Jessica Drummond.
"I look forward to working with and learning from Amy [Patton], Jess [Drummond], and Nicole [Moore] as we challenge, guide, and support the current team in pursuit of their goals in 2016," Wadland remarked.
Patton added: “Julie embodies Dartmouth Lacrosse in many facets and we are all so excited to welcome her back on campus in her new role.”
