Men's Golf
vs Metropolis Intercollegiate
Connole, who was hired in August of 2018, has a wealth of theoretical and practical experience helping people achieve peak performance in athletics, school and life. He spent over a decade studying human performance while earning a bachelor's degree in psychology and exercise science, two master's degrees in kinesiology and community counseling, and a Ph.D. in sport and exercise psychology. Beyond the classroom, Connole has worked with student-athletes and coaches at Cal State Fullerton, West Virginia University, Waynesburg College, Colgate and, most recently, Kansas State.
“We are thrilled to have Ian step into this critical leadership position for our department, as he is innovative, superbly qualified and deeply committed to the development of student-athletes and coaches,” Sheehy said. “Working with the terrific group of professionals already in place, I am confident Ian will make a strong DP2 program even stronger.”
As the director of sport psychology at Kansas State, Connole delivered performance-focused sport psychology services for all 16 teams, co-founded the K-State Athletics Student-Athlete Leadership Academy, launched several personal and mental development programs, and built a state-of-the-art mental training lab.
A native of Maine, Connole is a 2006 graduate of Skidmore College where he played basketball. He is also a certified consultant through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology, and a member of the United States Olympic Committee's Sport Psychology and Mental Training Registry.
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to become a member of the Dartmouth athletics community,” said Connole. “Harry Sheehy was extremely forward-thinking when launching Dartmouth Peak Performance seven years ago. With a talented staff already here, we will continue to balance innovation with trusted best practices to support the development of Dartmouth student-athletes on and off the playing fields.”
Connole and his fiancée, Meagan, moved to the Upper Valley at the end of 2017 where he has been building a mental-training company, Vision Pursue. His company created an app-based mental-training program and delivers live workshops for sport teams and corporate organizations to improve life experience, well-being and performance.
