PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Lea Kiefer scored two goals to lead the Dartmouth women's soccer team to a convincing 3-0 victory over Brown University in the Ivy League opener for both teams.
"It was by far our best effort of the season, both on the scoreboard and on the field," said head coach
Ben Landis. "It was just a great team effort all the way around."
The teams played a scoreless first half before Dartmouth got on the board in the 58th minute.
Emily Tracy served the ball in front of the net where Kiefer received it and headed it in.
Tracy also set up the second goal, crossing the ball to Jennie Tonneson who kicked it into the far corner of the net in the 73 minute.
Kiefer tallied her second goal of the game, and her fourth goal in the past two games, to close out the scoring.
Goalkeeper
Anne Marbarger stopped seven shots to record her first shutout of the season, while Sarah Gervais made eight saves for the Bears. Dartmouth improves to 3-5 on the season and 1-0 in Ivy play, while Brown falls to 4-2-2 and 0-1 in the league.
The Big Green will be back in action next Sunday when it hosts Princeton at 12:00 p.m. on Chase Field.
