HANOVER, N.H. - Dartmouth women's soccer defeated #19 Harvard, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026 in front of a packed home crowd at Burnham Field. It was the Big Green's first victory over a ranked opponent since Sept. 13, 2009 against #13 West Virginia. Also, with the victory, Dartmouth snapped the Crimson's seven-game win streak.
Stephanie Lathrop scored the game-deciding goal for the Big Green, with an impressive free-kick goal in the 62nd minute of play in the second half.
Ola Goebel posted her eighth shutout of the season and recorded five saves, which included a massive penalty kick save in the 83rd minute of play.
In the first half, Harvard started its offensive attack within the first few minutes of the game; however,
Ola Goebel made two early saves to keep the game scoreless. Halfway through the first, Dartmouth began to find a strong rhythm on the offense, with chances from
Madison Rose,
Michal Cagungun,
Lykke Ihrfelt and
Lourdes Lauterborn. The two teams would head into halftime, in a scoreless tie.
In the second half, the Big Green started right where they left off in the first half, with chances on goal by
Maeve Theobald and
Stephanie Lathrop. Harvard had some chances as well but neither team would find the back of the net until the 62nd minute. With Lathrop right outside the box, she blasted a free-kick into the goal and past the Crimson keeper, to put Dartmouth up, 1-0.
From there, Harvard looked to find an equalizer and their biggest chance of the game, came in the 83rd minute, in the form of a penalty kick. The Crimson stepped up to take the kick but were denied by
Ola Goebel, who made a massive save to keep the Big Green ahead. Time ticked down and once the whistle was blown, Dartmouth secured the huge 1-0 victory over #19 Harvard at Burnham Field.
