HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth tight end
Casey Cramer (Middleton, Wis.) was chosen by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the seventh round of Sunday's NFL draft.
The 6-2, 245 lb. senior was just the second Big Green player drafted in more than 25 years. Dartmouth's last draft selection was linebacker Zack Walz who was a sixth-round pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 1998.
Cramer caught 180 passes for 2,405 yards in his Dartmouth career. He was the second Ivy Leaguer chosen this weekend. Yale's Nate Lawrie, a 6-5 tight end, also was tabbed by Tampa Bay.
A unanimous first team All-Ivy selection in 2001 and 2002, Cramer earned All-America recognition as a junior, including second team honors by Associated Press.
He was the first Dartmouth athlete to play in the annual East-West Shrine Game since quarterback Jay Fiedler '94. In that game played in San Francisco on January 10, Cramer was the East's leading receiver with six catches.
He's projected as an H-back in the NFL, a cross between tight end and fullback.
