Dartmouth Football Announces 2004 Captains

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth football team has announced its captains for the 2004 campaign. Seniors
Ryan Conger,
Chris Dodds,
Chris Little and
Clayton Smith will share the responsibilities of leading the Big Green.
Conger (Randolph, N.J.) is a first team All-Ivy defensive end and led Dartmouth with eight sacks and 14 tackles for a loss. He forced two fumbles, recovered one and finished with 24 tackles and 11 assists. Conger was also selected to the All-New England Division I-AA All-Star team.
Smith (Atlanta, Ga.), a second team All-Ivy pick, was also a co-captain of the 2003 squad. The free safety finished fourth on the team with 68 tackles after leading the Big Green with 104 stops in 2002.
Dodds (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) was an honorable mention All-Ivy choice and received Dartmouth's Kenneth T. Young Award at the team's annual banquet. The honor goes to the underclassman on defense who contributed the most to the team. The strong safety was Dartmouth's leading tackler with 97, including 48 solo. He was second in Ivy League games with 74 tackles and third overall.
Little (El Paso, Texas) was Dartmouth's leading rusher in 2003 with 538 yards. He averaged 3.6 yards per carry and ran for four touchdowns.
After an 0-4 start, Dartmouth rebounded to win five of its last six games, gaining a tie for second place in the Ivy League standings with a 4-3 record. At 5-5 overall, the Big Green had its best season since the 1997 team went 8-2.
