CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Dartmouth men's basketball team fell to No. 11 Boston College this evening at the Conte Forum, 80-61. Junior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) led the way for the Big Green with 14 points and six rebounds, including 10 points in the second half.
After Boston College forward Craig Smith and Big Green center Calvin Arnold (Sebastopol, Calif.) scored five points apiece to start the game, the Eagles went on a 12-0 run to pull out in front for good. Neither team would go on another extended run the rest of the half, and Boston College led, 41-30, at the break.
A feisty Dartmouth squad kept it close throughout the second half, with the deficit hovering between eight and 14 points. But with roughly five minutes remaining in the contest, Boston College put the game away for good when Smith scored on a two-handed dunk and the Big Green followed that with an offensive foul on the other end of the floor.
Smith finished with 22 points and nine boards for Boston College. Arnold had 11 points and five rebounds for Dartmouth despite playing just 15 minutes before fouling out. The Big Green kept the battle of the boards close, trailing the Eagles by just six in the category, 36-30.
Dartmouth next plays on November 25 when it hosts UC-Davis in the Big Green's home opener. Gametime is set for 7 p.m.
