BOSTON, Mass. - Dartmouth softball (9-19-1) dropped a doubleheader with Boston University (15-16-1) today at the BU Softball Complex. In the first game Susie Fox broke up BU's no-hitter but it wasn't enough as the Terriers took a 1-0 victory. In game two a come-from-behind home run and double in the bottom of the seventh gave BU the 7-6 win.
In the first game the Big Green got its first runner on in the top of the second inning when Jodee Thompson reached on a walk. Alicia Petryk laid a bunt down in an attempt to move Thompson over but the ball rolled straight back to the pitcher and Thompson was thrown at second. Petryk was out on her way to second after Fox hit the ball directly to third base. With a runner at first a strikeout ended the inning for Dartmouth.
Angela Megaw, in the circle for Dartmouth, sat the Terriers down in order in the bottom of the second. She struck out all three batters swinging and ended with eight strikeouts for the game.
BU had its first runner reach base in the third as an error in left field allowed a runner on and advance to third with no outs. The Terriers got the run across after a hit by Jamie Haas to first base. A bobble by Lacey Neahr who was covering first allowed Haas to advance to second.
BU's second hit of the game was in the bottom of the sixth when Haas singled through the right side. Dartmouth's defense kept Haas stranded as the score stayed with Boston University leading, 1-0.

In the second game, Neahr was the first Dartmouth runner on with a walk in the opening frame. She advanced to second on a wild pitch as Fry was also issued a walk with two outs, Petryk doubled off the left field fence to score Neahr and Fry for the first two runs of the game.
In the third inning BU broke up Dartmouth pitcher Karin Edwardson's no-hitter with a leadoff hard-hit double to left field. A wild pitch moved the runner to third before Edwardson walked the second batter to put runners at the corners. After a strikeout and a throw to home that got the advancing runner, Chiya Louie singled to right field to plate the Terriers first run of the game. A slow ground ball to third base allowed DeKeyna Williams to load the bases. Edwardson was the hero of the inning, putting a full count on the BU batter before recording her third strikeout of the game.
Dartmouth had its third hit of the contest in the fifth as Allison Williams hit one up the middle. Kerry Conway moved Williams over as she reached on an error by third base. With a bunt that landed just out of the box, Neahr loaded the bases for a red-hot Fry. Then for the second straight week, Fry unloaded for her second grand slam home run of the season. Fry hit the ball to straight away center field scoring four and giving Dartmouth a 6-1 lead.
BU got four back in the bottom of the frame. With two outs and bases juiced, Jenny Shields knocked one up the middle plating two and moving runners to second and third. A pinch-hitter for the Terriers continued the scoring with a double down the left field line plating two more and putting the tying runner at second. But Edwardson was able to get the final batter to ground out ending the inning, keeping Dartmouth ahead, 6-5.
Two singles to right field for the Big Green in the top of the seventh put runners on but Dartmouth could not get anymore across as the Terriers came to bat. With two outs BU tied the game off a home run to center field before a double to straight center scored the winning run as Boston University took the 7-6 win.
Fry was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs. Edwardson went the complete game with seven earned runs and five strikeouts.
The Big Green will be back in action at home this weekend with two days of Ivy League doubleheader s against Cornell on Saturday and Columbia on Sunday.
