ITHACA, N.Y. -- Dartmouth senior Tiffany Hagge (Coon Rapids, Minn.) scored her second goal of the game with 15:46 left in the third period, pushing the Big Green women's hockey team to a 4-3 victory over Cornell on Saturday afternoon.
The gamewinner was Hagge's fifth of the season as Dartmouth went to 6-7 overall, 3-4 ECACHL, while Cornell is 5-8 overall, 1-6 ECACHL.
Senior Danielle Grundy (Kelowna, B.C.) also played a key role in the victory. Grundy tied the game, 3-3, with 57 seconds gone in the final period, and then set-up Hagge's gamewinner.
In the nets, freshman Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) earned the first win of her Dartmouth career, making 32 saves, including 15 in the second period. For Cornell, Flora Vineberg had 30 stops.
Hagge gave the Big Green a 1-0 lead with 6:03 gone in the game before the Big Red's Halina Kristalyn tied the contest with a power play goal five minutes later.
Freshman Carrie Thompson (Shorewood, Minn.) gave Dartmouth a 2-1 lead with 3:17 left in the first. Cornell took a 3-2 lead in the second period, scoring a pair of goals two minutes apart.
Junior Caroline Ethier (Matagami, Que.) and senior Emily Nerland (Calgary, Alta.) each had a pair of assists for the Big Green.
Dartmouth plays at Colgate on Sunday, January 8, in a 2 p.m. start.
