CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Dartmouth women's hockey team, ranked No. 8 in both national polls, downed No. 10 Boston College this evening, 3-2. Three different players scored for the Big Green, including senior captain Tiffany Hagge (Coon Rapids, Minn.), who has scored the gamewinning goal in all three victories so far this season.
Boston College (3-2-3) opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game when Sarah Feldman scored her first of the game while on the power play. The Big Green responded with two goals less than 30 seconds apart later in the period. At 4:23, senior Danielle Grundy (Kelowna, B.C.) scored her second of the season with freshman Katie Gray (Calgary, Alta.) being credited with the assist. Then, at 4:50, sophomore Carrie Thompson scored her second of the season to give the Big Green the lead, 2-1.
Dartmouth (3-1-0) upped its lead to 3-1 when Hagge scored her fourth of the season just 1:10 into the second frame. Senior Emily Nerland (Calgary, Alta.) was credited with the assist, her first of the season. The Eagles would cut the lead to one when Feldman scored her second of the game, again on the power play, but Dartmouth would hold off the Eagles for the final 29 minutes to earn the victory.
Senior Kate Lane (Wingham, Ont.) stopped 24-of-26 shots to earn the victory, while Alison Quandt made 21 saves for Boston College. The Big Green went scoreless on four power play opportunities, while the Eagles were 2-for-7 with the man advantage.
