PRINCETON, N.J. - The Dartmouth women's hockey team fell to sixth-ranked Princeton this afternoon, 7-2. The Tigers never trailed, and led 7-0 after two periods of play.
Freshman Shannon Bowman (Leamington, Ont.) led the Big Green with a goal and an assist in the final period, while classmate Marley McMillan (St. Paul, Minn.) picked up her first collegiate goal at 17:49 of the third to provide the final score.
The loss left the Big Green in eighth place in the ECAC Hockey League with just four games remaining on the docket. Thanks to a loss by Quinnipiac this afternoon, however, Dartmouth has clinched an ECACHL playoff berth.
Senior Kate Lane (Wingham, Ont.) started in net but was pulled midway through the second after allowing the first six goals by the Tigers. Freshman Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) finished the game, allowing one goal while making seven saves.
The Tigers went 3-for-4 on the power play while Dartmouth was held scoreless on four attempts.
Dartmouth (9-10-4, 6-7-3 ECACHL) returns to Thompson Arena next weekend for the final home games of the 2005-06 regular season. The Big Green hosts Colgate at 7 p.m. on Friday before facing Cornell at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
