HANOVER, N.H. -- Dartmouth had a rally late in the third quarter to close the gap, but Yale sealed the deal midway through the fourth, taking a 26-14 decision in Ivy League football action Saturday at Memorial Field.

With 4:22 left in the third period, junior tight end Brett Lowe (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) caught a 17-yard touchdown pass, and less than three minutes later, sophomore Andrew von Kuhn (Birmingham, Ala.) hauled in a 23-yarder. That got Dartmouth within five, 19-14.

With the score 19-7, the Big Green (0-4 overall, 0-2 Ivy) got the ball back on the kickoff when Dartmouth freshman Marlon Alebiosu (Stamford, Conn.) recovered a fumble at the Yale 37.

Junior Andrew Kempler (Westport, Conn.) connected on both PATs.

The momentum swung back to Yale (3-1, 2-0 Ivy) on the next drive. Using 14 plays and taking 8:15 off the clock, the Bulldogs marched 79 yards and used two big plays by sophomore running back Mike McLeod.

The Ivy League rookie of the year in 2005, McLeod caught a 25 yard pass to get the ball to the Dartmouth nine, and then finished it off with his second TD run of the game to make it 26-14.

For Dartmouth, senior quarterback Mike Fritz (Houston, Texas) completed 16 of his 21 pass attempts for 211 yards. Junior wide receiver Brian Evans (Fairfield, Texas) caught five passes for 139 yards.

"It was a disappointing ball game," said head coach Buddy Teevens. "We had difficulty getting Yale off the field, and in the first half, difficulty maintaining control of the football offensively. Special teams hurt us as well -- a bad decision on a kick return and bad field position. It was a collection of things."

Yale's McLeod had an impressive game rushing, carrying 33 times for 198 yards.

Dartmouth hosts Holy Cross on Saturday, October 14, in the annual Homecoming contest. Kickoff is 12:30 pm at Memorial Field.
