HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth (4-3, 3-3 ECACHL) men's hockey team lost its third straight game at home as the visiting Yale Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) came away with a 4-2 victory on Friday in Thompson Arena. The Bulldogs scored two in the second and third periods as Big Green netminder Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.) made 33 saves.
The Bulldogs put two across in the second period off goals by Sean Backman and Robert Page. Yale went up by three early in the third on a backbreaking goal by Mark Arcobello with :19 elapsed into the period.
Dartmouth got one back with its only power play goal of the night at 5:58. Tanner Glass (Craven, Sask.) passed over to Ben Lovejoy (Orford, N.H.) at the point. Lovejoy sent the puck sailing to David Jones (North Vancouver, B.C.) up top as Jones ripped a one-timer past Bulldog goalie Alex Richards.
Yale again went up by three when Matt Cohen notched the final Eli goal at 16:43. Dartmouth's Nick Johnson (Calgary, Alta.) from J.T. Wyman (Wayzata, Minn.) and Jones potted another one for the Big Green. Dartmouth pulled Devine with :59 for the extra man but Yale sent the puck down ice and the Big Green would not get another chance.
The Bulldogs shut down the Dartmouth power play as the Big Green went 1-9. The Elis were clicking with the extra man going 2-6. Yale outshot the Big Green 37-16, the sixth time this season Dartmouth has been outshot.
The Big Green continues at home tomorrow night in a 7:00 pm matchup with Brown.
