HANOVER, N.H. – Six Dartmouth football players were recognized by the Ivy League this week for their on-field play during the 2006 season.
Senior wide receiver
Ryan Fuselier (Escondido, Calif.) was named to the All-Ivy second team for the second consecutive season, as he led the Dartmouth team in receptions with 57 for 711 yards. Fuselier averaged 71.1 yards per game and found the end zone three times in the team's 10 games.
Along with Fuselier on the second team,
Ian Wilson (Burbank, Calif.) lined up on the other side of the ball for the Big Green playing in all 10 games at the strong safety position. Wilson ended the season second on the team in tackles with 89. Wilson also forced and recovered a fumble, and blocked a kick in his junior season. This is Wilson's second season being acknowledged by the league.
Four other members of the Big Green squad were given honorable mention consideration by the Ivy League.
Senior co-captain
Preston Copley (Louisville, Ky.) started in all 10 games at the offensive tackle position and helped pave the way for the Big Green's offensive.
Quarterback
Mike Fritz (Houston, Texas) lined up under center in all 10 games for the Big Green. Fritz finished the season completing 162-of-263 attempts for 1,838 yards and seven touchdowns. The senior also finished first on the team in rushing, as he tucked the ball 101 times, gaining 410 yards and scoring twice.
Junior linebacker
Justin Cottrell (Somers Point, N.J.) was also given honorable mention accolades. Cottrell led the Big Green squad in tackles this season with 95, and recorded three sacks. Cottrell also forced and recovered a fumble.
John Pircon (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) ended the season making 72 tackles, and intercepting one pass. The junior free saftey also forced a fumble for the Big Green defense.
