POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Freshman Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) extended her point streak to four games, as she aided the Big Green in their, 2-0, win over ECAC opponent Clarkson on Saturday in Potsdam, N.Y.
The Big Green, who remain unbeaten in ECAC league games, knocked off the Golden Knights of Clarkson with two spread-out goals. Just 18 seconds into the contest Parsons got the Big Green on the board, as she wristed a shot over the glove of Knights net minder Kira Hurley, to give the squad an early advantage. Sophomore Katie Gray (Calgary, Alta.) picked up her third assist of the season on Parsons' mark.
The match remained a tight-knit battle for the remainder of the game, as both teams had their respective chances. Clarkson out shot the Big Green every period, putting 28 shots on the frame. Sophomore goaltender Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) turned away everyone of the 28, to give the Big Green their second shut out of the season.
It wasnt until the third period that the red light came on again, as senior Katie Weatherston (Thunder Bay, Ont.) moved the puck behind the net to sophomore Shannon Bowman (Leamington, Ont.) who flung a shot toward the net, that deflected off the skate of the Knights Stephanie Hansen and trickled over the line.
Bowman's goal put the finishing touches on Golden Knights, who fall to 1-4-1 in ECAC competition. With the win, the Big Green improve to a perfect 4-0-0 in the league.
The team will be back in action next weekend at home as they host two more ECAC teams. The Big Green will skate against Cornell on Friday night, then take on the Raiders of Colgate on Saturday.
