Robbie Bina broke the 1-1 tie with 6:33 gone in the third period, scoring the gamewinner for North Dakota (8-10-1). UND will take on St. Lawrence in Saturday's championship game after SLU defeated Boston University, 4-3, in the opener.
Dartmouth (5-5-2) takes on BU in the consolation game at 4 p.m.
After Bina pushed UND ahead in the third, Andrew Kozek added an insurance goal three minutes later. With Dartmouth goalie Mike Devine (Orchard Park, N.Y.) on the bench in favor of the extra skater, UND's Ryan Duncan added an empty-netter with 42 seconds left.
Devine made 14 saves for Dartmouth who was 0-for-11 on the power play. North Dakota also missed on seven power play chances.
"I thought we played a good game, they were a well coached and a very good hockey team. We played hard but it just didn't go our way. We're continuing to battle and we'll find a way. We need to get better on our power play. A power play goal tonight and it might have been a different game for us." - Head Coach Bob Gaudet.
