POTSDAM, N.Y. - Dartmouth sophomore Nicole Ruta (Pickering, Ont.) scored a pair of first period goals as the Big Green women's hockey team downed Clarkson, 6-2, Friday night.
With one regular season game remaining at St. Lawrence on Saturday, the Big Green improved to 12-10-4 overall and 9-7-3 in the ECACHL.
The eighth ranked Golden Knights dropped to 21-11-1 and 12-7 in the ECACHL.
Dartmouth scored four times in the opening 20 minutes, including just 3:25 into the game when Ruta collected her first. She made it 2-0 about four minutes later, before junior Caroline Ethier (Matagami, Que.) and freshman Julia Bronson (Arlington, Va.) bumped the Dartmouth lead to 4-0.
With the teams skating four-on-four in the second period, Ethier netted her second of the night at 4:03 to make it 5-0. Eight minutes later, freshman Shannon Bowman (Leamington, Ont.) gave Dartmouth a 6-0 advantage. Ethier finished the night with three points.
Clarkson spoiled the shutout with a pair of goals in the third period.
In the nets, freshman Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) made 14 saves for the Big Green.
