Dartmouth Men's Basketball in Costa Rica
Tuesday, September 5
Today was a long travel day. We loaded up the bus in Hanover at 3 am and made our way down to Logan. Our plane departed at 7:20am, and we finally arrived in Costa Rica around 4 pm...or 2 pm Eastern time. We stepped out of the airport and were greeted by 80 degree weather as well as Lee Frederick and Time Austin of Sports Tours Inc who took us to our hotel, Costa Rica Tennis Club.
Once at our hotel we were met by our tour guides, Hector and Tio from Swiss tours, who gave us a quick tour of downtown San Jose. We walked down Avenida 1, we checked out all the shops, and we also stopped for a photo op in front of the national theater or "Teatro Nacional."
Hector also gave us a quick historic, economic and geographic lesson on Costa Rica, as well as a quick run-down of all the hot spots that San Jose has to offer.
It was a pretty slow day, but tomorrow will be much more exciting. We have a jungle tour scheduled for the morning, practice in the afternoon and most importantly, we take on Barva Team. They are 17-1 and tied for the top spot in the Costa Rica Division 1 league so this game should be a good test for us. Basically it's looking to be a great trip.
