Nana Allison-Brewer

Nana Allison-Brewer begins her first year as an assistant coach at Dartmouth. A former Division I standout from New Mexico, Allison-Brewer brings six years of coaching, teaching and higher education experience to the Big Green and is among only a few Native Americans (Navajo) to have played and coached at the college level.
Allison-Brewer joins the Dartmouth volleyball staff after completing a M.A. in higher education and serving as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Arizona. Her final year at the University of Arizona that saw the team finish in the elite eight at the 2006 NCAA tournament.
She herself is a notable volleyball player, playing from 1995 to 1999 for the University of New Mexico. Besides graduating with a B.S. in statistics in 2000, she finished her volleyball career eighth in service aces and digs and was recognized as the 1998 Western Athletic Conference "Defensive Specialist of the Year."
Before continuing her education at Arizona, Allison-Brewer served as the head coach for Chinle High School in Arizona, Kirtland Central High School in New Mexico and Sabino High School in Arizona. She was awarded "Coach of the Year" for the Arizona Grand Canyon District 4A in 2000 and for the New Mexico District 1-4A in 2001.
On July 7, 2006, she was part of a Native American volleyball team, comprised of former and current college players, who won the gold medal at the North American Indigenous Games. She also is active in sports organizations like the U.S. Volleyball Diversity Committee and was a representative of the U.S. Olympic Committee at the International Olympic Academy held in Olympia, Greece in 1998.
Allison-Brewer is married to Joseph Brewer and is mother to two girls Iyawa Daisy (3 1/2 yrs.) and See-na-ne Nanabah Curly (5mo.).
