After a sluggish start to the game ? the Big Green did not score its first field goal until 16:46 ? Dartmouth went on to take a 44-34 lead on UNH at halftime. The first half total was Dartmouth's highest of the season, besting its 36 first-half points against Harvard.
New Hampshire came out swinging in the early goings, taking a 10-0 lead at the 17:00 mark. The Big Green finally got on the board when senior Ashley Taylor (Cookeville, Tenn.) drove the baseline for a bucket at 16:46.
Both teams started heating up after that but three consecutive three-pointers gave the Wildcats a 19-14 lead at 11:51.
Then, in an amazing turn of events, Dartmouth's Schram took charge of the game, going on an 11-0 run on her own. Schram hit three triples and a jumper during the course of the next three minutes to give her team a 24-19 lead at 8:57.
New Hampshire crept back up in the scoring column and took a slight lead, up 25-24 at 6:56, but Taylor scored shortly after for Dartmouth to regain the lead. The Big Green ended the period on a 20-9 run for its 44-34 halftime lead.
Dartmouth jumpstarted the second half with a pair of steals leading to scores, but New Hampshire made a run of its own. The Wildcats employed a full-court pressure to go on a 15-1 run during the next eight minutes to cut the Dartmouth lead to 54-49 at the 11:00 mark.
The Big Green soon rallied, kicked off by back-to-back triples by Schram to give her team a 62-51 lead at 7:26. The teams traded buckets, but Dartmouth maintained its double-digit lead with a variety of offensive weapons.
Seniors Danielle Clark and Ray Williams did all they could for New Hampshire, scoring 13 of their team's 15 points in the last seven minutes. Their effort would not be enough as Taylor seemed to easily wrack up 11 of Dartmouth's last 13 points herself.
Schram finished with 22 points with five triples while Taylor also tallied 22 points including a sterling 11-of-11 effort from the charity stripe. The two also combined for 14 rebounds while Taylor dished out six assists in a well-rounded effort. The pair was joined in double figures by junior Sydney Scott (Houston, Texas), who added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Dartmouth will be back in action when it hosts Holy Cross on Jan. 18 after an eight-day lay-off. That will be the final non-conference game for the Big Green.
