Dartmouth Men's Basketball Falls to Yale, 71-64

HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's basketball team had four players in double figures, but it wasn't enough to overtake Yale as the Bulldogs took a 71-64 decision in Ivy League play Saturday night.
Senior Leon Pattman (Memphis, Tenn.) and sophomore Dan Biber (Lorain, Ohio) each scored 15 points for the Big Green. Junior Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) had a double-double for Dartmouth with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and sophomore Alex Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) contributed 12 points.
Dartmouth made a run at Yale (7-10, 3-1 Ivy) at the midway point of the second half. After trailing, 36-27 at halftime, the Big Green came back to take its first lead since the game's opening minutes.
Trailing by six, 49-43 with 11:51 to play, Dartmouth put together an 8-1 run, capped off by a Pattman layup with 9:05 to go. That gave the Big Green a 51-50 lead.
But Yale answered with a 10-0 stretch. Alexander Zampier had a 3-pointer with 7:07 to go and made a pair of free throws for a 60-51 Bulldog lead with 5:31 remaining. Dartmouth (7-10, 2-2 Ivy) couldn't get closer than four points the rest of the way.
For Yale, Eric Flato led all scorers with 20 points, while Caleb Holmes had 16. For the game, the Bulldogs shot 49.0 percent to Dartmouth's 46.6 percent.
The Big Green returns to action on February 2-3, hosting Cornell and Columbia in Leede Arena. Game time both nights is 7 p.m.
