HANOVER -- The Dartmouth junior varsity spotted a Milford Academy team stocked with Rivals Top-50 prep recruits a 29-0 lead at the half Sunday before tightening up the defense in the second half of a hard-fought 29-6 loss on Memorial Field.
Under a heavy rush, sophomore quarterback Max Heiges completed 6-of-15 passes for 97 yards, including a 5-yard swing pass to freshman running back Joseph Zimring, who cut back inside with the throw and powered into the end zone for the only points of the second half.
Freshman safety Chance Robbins and defensive end Buddy Benaderet, another freshman, each had 13 tackles to lead the Big Green. Robbins broke up two passes while Benaderet had a sack.
Sophomore defensive end Jeff Smith added nine stops for Dartmouth as did freshman linebacker Matt Oh.
Zimring led a limited Dartmouth ground attack with eight carries for 22 yards. Freshman John Spradling hauled in a 39-yard throw from Max Heiges and had a 46-yard reception from Heiges called back for holding.
The Dartmouth junior varsity, now 0-2, will return to action at Harvard on Oct. 26 before closing out the season Nov. 11 against Bridgton Academy on Memorial Field.
