HANOVER, N.H. -
Johnathan Ball (Memphis, Tenn.) and
Michael Giovacchini (Salt Lake City, Utah) have been elected co-captains of the 2007-08 Dartmouth men's basketball team.
Both will be seniors. Ball was a co-captain of the 06-07 team.
"John Ball did a great job for us as a captain this year, in addition to his performance on the floor," said Dartmouth coach
Terry Dunn. "He'll be even more effective this coming season. And Michael is a player who has weathered the storm, fighting through injuries and setbacks. He'll also do a very good job because he's garnered the respect of his teammates and the coaches, too."
Ball missed the first two games of the season with an injury and then made 25 straight starts. He was Dartmouth's second leading rebounder with 5.6 per game and fourth leading scorer at 7.6. The 6-4 forward is also one of the squad's top defenders.
Giovacchini played in 15 games this year, including one start, before missing the final 12 contests because of an injury. The 5-11 guard had a season-high 12 points at Maryland-Eastern Shore, helping Dartmouth to a 64-59 victory in late December.
Both Ball and Giovacchini are three-year letterwinners for the Big Green.
