The Dartmouth women's tennis team won the doubles point against Princeton, but ultimately fell 6-1 to the Tigers today at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. The Big Green falls to 8-7 overall and 0-3 in the Ivy League with the loss.
Dartmouth came out strong in the doubles as the junior tandem of Megan Zebroski and Natalie O'Rourke took out the East Region's 10th-ranked team of Ivana King and Melissa Saointz at No. 1, and senior co-captain Kerry Snow and junior Maggie Suydam rallied from a 5-0 deficit to reel off eight straight games for an 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.
At No. 1 sngles, Zebroski faced a tough opponent in Saiontz, the region's No. 6 player who had also been a top 10 nationally-ranked junior player. Moving up to No. 2, Snow also faced a tough opponent in King, a former top 30 nationally-ranked junior player. Freshman Jesse Adler was ousted at No. 3 singles by senior Darcy Robertson, New England's former top-ranked junior, and senior co-captain Lindsay Winingham battled freshman Sarah Huah to a third set super-breaker but was edged 10-6 after a great match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats. Freshman Carley Markovitz and sophomore Jamie Caplan both played tough at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively, but ultimately fell in straight sets.
