Dartmouth Women's Tennis Loses Battle with Brown

Hanover, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's tennis team was warmly received by the Hanover faithful in its last home match of the season and outdoor debut, but fell to Brown, 5-2. Despite the loss, the Big Green got wins from junior Megan Zebroski at No. 1 and freshman Carley Markovitz at No. 5 singles. Dartmouth falls to 8-9 overall and 0-5 in the Ivy League with the loss, while Brown is now 3-3 in conference play.

Dartmouth got into an early hole against the Bears, winning only one of the three doubles matches. Senior co-captain Lindsay Winingham and freshman Jesse Adler cruised to Dartmouth's lone win, 8-1, at No. 2.

In singles, Zebroski battled to a thrilling three-set victory over senior Michelle Pautler at No. 1, while at No. 2 senior co-captain Kerry Snow battled back from a 6-1 first set deficit, only to be edged 6-4 in the third by Brown's former No. 1 player, Daisy Ames. Markovitz prevailed in straight sets at No. 5, while Winingham and Adler fell in straight sets at No. 3 and No. 4. Sophomore Jamie Caplan splits sets at No. 6, but since the match had been decided and darkness was falling, a 7-point tie-breaker was played for the third (which Brown won 7-2).

The Big Green returns to action against Yale in New Haven on Sunday at 12:30.
