New Haven, Conn. - The Dartmouth women's tennis team's bid to upend the Ivy League's second place team fell short today as the Big Green fell, 4-3, to the No. 67-ranked Elis.
The Big Green jumped out to an early lead after winning the doubles point. The pair of freshman Mary Beth Winingham and senior co-captain Lindsay Winingham won at No. 2 and freshman Jesse Adler and junior Maggie Suydam combined to win at No. 3.
In singles, the Big Green got straight set wins at No. 5 from Adler, who defeated Yale senior captain Olivia Nix and freshman Carley Markovitz, who downed sophomore Lilien Nguyen at No. 6.
This marked the Big Green's third heartbreaking 4-3 loss in Ivy play this season.
