Men's Tennis
vs Dartmouth Invite #1
4/25/2007 12:00:00 AM | Men's Tennis
Hanover, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's team lost a hard-fought battle to Ivy rival Harvard, 4-3 at home this afternoon, ending the season with a 16-10 overall record, 1-6 Ivy.
Seniors David Waslen and Steven McGaughey started their last match out with a big win over the Crimson at No. 1 doubles. Harvard managed to win the other doubles matches, however, to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
The Big Green faced a tall order in singles play and managed to split with the Crimson, but the doubles point proved decisive in Harvard earning the win. Freshman #2 player, Daniel Freeman got a big win in straight sets over an always tough Dan Nguyen. Justin Tzou continued his Ivy win streak with a straight set win, but the most exciting match was McGaughey's come from behind win over Ashwin Kumar at No. 4 singles. Down a break 2-5 in the third set, the savvy senior held, broke and held to get into a tie break for the match. He handled the pressure well to pull out the 7-3 win
Today marked Waslen and McGaughey's last time playing for the Green and White.
