New York, N.Y. - Despite sweeping the doubles and jumping out to a 3-1 lead over the Lions, the No. 63 Dartmouth women's tennis team dropped its final three singles matches, all three-setters, and fell to Columbia 4-3 on Friday. The Big Green cruised through the doubles, as each team dropped only three games.
Singles got off to a strong start as freshman Jesse Adler and junior Jamie Caplan recorded straight set wins at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively. At No. 1 and No. 2 junior Megan Zebroski and freshman Mary Beth Winingham both captured the first set, but were unable to close out their opponents, and senior co-captain Kerry Snow was also edged in three sets as Dartmouth fell in a heartbreaker.
The Dartmouth women will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Cornell at 12:00 p.m. in Ithaca.
