REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS:
Saturday: West wind 6-16 knots. Epic conditions on El Rio De Charles today! 8 races
were completed in A division and 6 races in B division. The first race of each set was a
windward-leeward twice around featuring a weather offset and a leeward gate. The second
race of each set was a 3 legged windward-leeward with an offset and gate. Conditions on
the changing dock were brutal -- breezy and cold -- think Everest base camp! One request
for redress was DENIED. Big ups to Knaughty Knowles, Kerry Sullivan, and all the BU
Terriers.
Sunday: Sailors arrived at the boathouse to cloudy skies and no breeze. Sailors entertained
themselves with movies on the big screen, homework, napping, or all of the above until
approximately 12pm when a very light (0-4 kts.) southwesterly filled in. B Division completed
one W4 and one W3 with a windward offset and leeward gate. Though everyone was jealous of
the better breeze on the other side of the bridge, no one seemed too disappointed when the race
committee ended the racing for the day at 2:15pm. Many thanks to Greg Helias, Ben Spiller,
Matt Knowles, and the young BU lady sailors who helped run a great regatta. Thanks also to
all of the coaches for great feedback throughout the regatta, and to the women sailors themselves
for their speedy work and cooperative spirit derigging boats and getting them back onto our
new rack system. Congratulations to the BU Lady Terriers on their victory on their home waters!
